World Drone Racing (WDR), based in France, is one of the leading global organizations in the rapidly growing discipline of drone racing. Combining technical artistry with the thrill of esports, WDR hosts international competitions featuring the world’s top drone pilots. Beyond events, the organization fosters talent through its academy, training elite pilots and sponsoring the most promising individuals in the field.

Amidst the sport’s rising popularity, WDR sought to reorganize its commercial offerings and redefine its communication strategy. This involved a complete redesign of its visual identity to embody the competitive, innovative spirit of drone racing. Working closely with the WDR team, I developed a creative concept that blends technology with imagination, drawing inspiration from video games and esports performance. The new emblem captures the essence of elevation, with design elements influenced by iconic sci-fi universes like Star Wars and Futurama. This bold, forward-looking identity repositions WDR as a pioneer in aerial technology, pushing the boundaries of esports and drone racing in France and beyond.

Various existing visual codes related to the world of sports racing inspired me to design the elements of the WDR identity.

Italics gives a sense of rhythm, speed, and texture of the characters through an organic reference linked to geography, asphalt, and moments lived.
