Black Mass is an American crime film directed by Scott Cooper based on the 2001 book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob by Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill. The film depicts the true story of Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston. Following a string of too many of his violent actions, he becomes an FBI informant for 30 years in order to take down a Mafia family invading his turf.

The main on end sequence and supers I designed was based on the FBI documents from the period. The concept was to enter step by step inside the building, the office, the case’s folder. The FBi office business machines from the seventies reveals a terrible truth frame after frame. The main title is a subtle and clever introduction to the hidden crime of Boston’s mafia.
